Plastination Activities in OrganKits: A Major Milestone Achieved
Over the past months, Discover-IN (Murcia) has successfully plastinated a total of 448 real organ specimens, including hearts, lungs, brains, stomachs, kidneys, and more—sourced from ovine, bovine, and swine origins.
These specimens were produced using the Biodur® S10 silicone technique, the gold standard for educational plastination, under strict quality assurance protocols (ISO 9001:2015). The result: dry, odorless, highly detailed anatomical models that are ideal for hands-on use in the classroom.

This is the first time plastination has been applied on this scale for pre-university education, and it represents a significant innovation within the project. Beyond anatomy, these materials support a broader STEAM approach, encouraging interdisciplinary learning and student engagement with real biological structures. With these activities, the OrganKits team is taking a major step forward in making advanced anatomical science more accessible, safe, and engaging for young learners.
